    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation for patients of all ages, presenting with conditions or disorders of sleep, hypersomnia, parasomnia, circadian rhythm, and sleep related movement disorders.
    • Perform and interpret a variety of diagnostic tests in evaluation of sleep disorders. 
    • Order appropriate laboratory, x–ray, and other diagnostic tests, when indicated, for patients with diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, interstitial lung disease, hypothyroidism, gastroesophageal reflux, or pain syndromes affecting sleep. These tests include, but are not limited to: polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, actigraphy, sleep diaries, unattended sleep studies, pulmonary function testing and laboratory testing,
    • Interpret medical evidence, incorporating information into an accurate diagnosis or appraisal, while instituting proper treatment and care.Prescribe appropriate treatments to include continuous positive airway pressure, bi-level airway pressure, oxygen, drugs and/or behavioral modalities.
    • Provide technical direction to other HCWs within the Sleep Medicine Division. This includes the sleep technicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants assigned to the Sleep Medicine Division.

    Qualifications

    • Graduated from an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited training program in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Family Practice, or Neurology and Psychiatry.
    • Board certified, or board eligible, in sleep medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) or certified in sleep medicine by either a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or a member board of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
    • Possess and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
    • Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sleep Medicine Physician within the preceding 3 years.
