    Optometry Technician


    GiaCare is currently taking resumes for Registered Nurses (RN) with experience. This full time permanent civilian position for Optometry Technician is at the Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC Emergency Department. 


    Medical One Stop (MOS) – Soldier Readiness Center (SRC) 

    No Federal Holidays

    The normal hours of work are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:00 am to 11:00 pm

    • Conducts visual evaluation, screening, testing, and triage of patients. Serves as an Optometry Technician assigned to the Department of Deployment Health Soldier Readiness Center 

    • Coordinates and performs ocular screenings to assist with units' Soldier Readiness Programs by identifying and ordering the necessary military spectacles and inserts for Soldiers. Assists in Soldier Readiness Processing screenings for deployment and redeployment to include measuring visual acuities; verifying spectacle prescriptions; ordering military issue eyewear; referring for comprehensive eye exams. Additionally, assists in the Vision Readiness Classification System (VRCS) program by performing measuring visual acuities, verifying spectacle prescriptions, ordering military issue eyewear, referring for comprehensive eye exams, and updating information in the MEDPROS database. Updates the vision readiness status in the MEDPROS system.



    • Qualifications:

    • Complete an ophthalmology technician or an Optometry technician course

    • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support , HCWs shall maintain current certification in one of the following: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course. Other certifications may be acceptable if specified in the TO. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or Military Training Network emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.

    • As required to meet clinical competency requirements or one year of experience as an Ophthalmic/Optometry Technician after graduation.
