    Responsibilities


    • Serve as the administrative coordinator for the various surveys in accordance with the American College of Radiology Guidelines and Standards for Medical Physics Monitoring.

    • Develop, perform, and analyze quality control testing of radiation producing, detecting and measuring equipment. This shall include all of the hospital's
      radiographic/fluoroscopic, mammography, dental x-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, digital radiography and computed radiography devices.

    • Responsible for the estimation of patient skin and fetal radiation dose from diagnostic radiological procedures.

    • Performs both consultative and on-site medical physics services in support of Travis AFB, California's regional medical physics mission.


     


     


     

    Qualifications


    • The Diagnostic Medical Physicist must possess at least a Master’s Degree or higher in Medical Physics or a related physical science degree with at least 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) of graduate or undergraduate physics from an accredited university. Graduate from a college in medical physics, radiological physics, health physics, or physics accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs, Inc (CAMPEP).

    • The Diagnostic Medical Physicist must be board certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP) in diagnostic physics or in radiological physics. Certifications must be kept current.

    • Three (3) years of experience as a Medical Physicist after graduation.
