    Responsibilities


    • Knowledge. Must have the knowledge and skills to effectively apply Special
      Needs Coordinator functions. Must be at least moderately computer literate;
      must be familiar with standard MS Office, general database familiarity and other
      good general computer/electronic office equipment functions/use.

    • Establishes and maintains procedures to identify sponsors whose family members have special medical and/or educational needs in a timely manner.

    • Conducts assessments of family members of RegAF sponsors to determine if special medical and/or education conditions exist that require Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) enrollment.

    • Ensures all RegAF sponsors known to the MTF as having family members with special needs according to DoD criteria are identified to the AFPC (via the local Military Personnel Section (MPS) and/or Commander Support Staff (CSS)

    • Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and potentially agitated.

    Qualifications


    • Baccalaureate or higher
      degree program, and if applicable, accredited by a national accrediting agency
      recognized by the US Department of Education. A degree in a medically related
      field is required.

    • Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time
      experience in specialized field of study and care coordination or case
      management in a medical setting, with clinical services being performed for at
      least 12 of the last 36 months.

    • Must have an active, valid, current and unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice his or her specialized area of medical care (e.g. Nursing, or Social Worker) in any US state/jurisdiction.

    • Work Environment/Physical Requirements include prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending, and computer use.

    • Employee is responsible for maintaining/renewing licensure from a state and if required, a certification or registration when caring for patients within the MTF. The Special Needs Coordinator (SNC) shall not perform any service if license is inactive or revoked.

    • In addition to BLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
