    Civilian Staff Psychiatrist position supports Navy Hospital Mental Health Department, Jacksonville, FL

     

    One, full time Psychiatrist position is available at the NASJAX Base, Jacksonville, Florida to treat referred patients with mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, personality disorders, and those with intellectual developmental disorders and substance use disorders. The expectation is for the Psychiatrist to collaborate with primary care providers in the evaluation and treatment of medical problems which may intersect with psychiatric presentations..

     

    Our Psychiatrists use a variety of tools – including various forms of psychotherapy, medications, psychosocial interventions and other treatments depending on the needs of each patient to include the following in-house services:

    • Pharmacy & Labs
    • ECT, DBS, VNS
    • SPECT, PET, CT

    Because patient care continuity is vital for your complex and chronic cases, the typical schedule is:

    • Full time, 40 hours/week

    • Monday through Friday

    • Between 0700-1800

    Responsibilities

    • Provide full range of services to include:
      • Conduct psychotherapy and prescribe medications and other medical treatments,
      • Order or perform a full range of medical laboratory and psychological tests  
    • Evaluate and treat emotional and behavioral illnesses
    • Direct Interdisciplinary Team
      • Ensure interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress
      • Consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers

    Qualifications

    • Possess board certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Association 
    • Possess residency training and not less than three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years as a full-time psychiatrist
      • OR, have graduated from a psychiatry residency program within the preceding twelve (12) months.
    • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Current Medical License from any US jurisdiction
