    Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)

    GiaCare, LLC is currently seeking to hire full time permanent civilian Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), also known as BAMC. The Women's Ambulatory Clinic provides gynecological and obstetrical care in an outpatient setting. The Birthing Center inpatient floor opened in September 2011 and the new ward is equipped with 11 labor rooms, 12 antepartum rooms and 12 post partum rooms. The CNM may perform outpatient care, be privileged to admit and discharge and is available by telephone to provide medical consultation, collaborative management and/or referral when indicated. This premier Army hospital and Level I Trauma center is the Defense Department's largest inpatient facility.     Responsibilities

    • Primarily performs low and medium risk and routine OB care and women’s health services in the triage area, perinatal surveillance area, labor and delivery, postpartum units and ambulatory clinical areas.
    • Receives patients, explains method of procedure, positions patients, selects and sets technical factors.
    • Performs procedures such as women’s health exam, OB intake and prenatal and postnatal exams, performs limited ultrasounds, NST, antenatal surveillance, BPP, vaginal deliveries, repair lacerations, assists with surgeries as needed.
    • Provides postpartum care and contraception management and preventive and preconception exams procedures.
    • Performs duties, when required, as the Quality Control CNM responsible for reviewing all in patient or ambulatory charts, antenatal surveillance procedures, or peer reviews as performed by CNMs in the department for diagnostic quality prior to interpretation by the OB or GYN attending.

     

     

    Qualifications

    Must Have:

    • 1 years experience within the last 3 in a full scope midwifery role
    • DEA
    • Texas Controlled Substance Registry Certificate
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (NRP)
    • Midwifery Board Certification
    • Current, valid license from any US jurisdiction
