    Optometry Technician

    Are you an experienced  Optometry Technician? Would you like an opportunity to give back to our men and women in uniform?

    We are currently accepting resumes for Optometry Technician to provide medical services at the Department of Defense Military Health System (MHS) MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL area in anticipation of an upcoming government contract award.

    0700-1600 or 0730-1630

    Responsibilities

    Knowledge: Must have knowledge of ocular anatomy; ophthalmic medications; visual physiology, optics; use and maintenance of ophthalmic instruments and testing equipment; ophthalmic and medical regulations; medical terminology; optometric technology; asepsis; ocular referrals and emergency medical treatment; patient transportation; medical ethics; medical administration; and medical service organization and function.

    Qualifications

    • A formal ophthalmic technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
    • Certified by the American Optometric Association. Must possess certification 6 months after start date. Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA) or Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT)
    • One year of experience as an ophthalmic technician within the last 36 months
    • BLS
